About Independent Drawings Gig
The Independent Drawings Gig (IDG) is an international art crossover project initiated by Linas Jablonskis in Vilnius, Lithuania in 2005. It is a hybrid of a live concert and a drawing exhibition. It emphasizes the collision of the indie music scene with the world of independent artistic practices, a world in which drawing plays a particularly important role. IDG is about experience and energy, independent spirit and critical value. The first edition of the IDG took place in Vilnius(Lithuania) in 2005, with subsequent editions being hosted in Skopje(Macedonia) by the Museum of Contemporary Art in 2006 and in The Hague(the Netherlands) as a part of the citywide Ground 2 art festival in 2007. The fourth edition (to be held over the course of a week in the beginning of October, 2008) will be staged in multiple cities around the world in various spaces, ranging from galleries that are interested in our concept to private spaces of individuals who were involved in previous installments of IDG, and who are ready to host the event for their artistic communities. IDG4 will also be the first IDG that will be streamed live online on the upcoming IDG web site. This will allow the diverse groups participating in IDG4 to connect and interact with each other.

The project will also be featured in the upcoming issue of D (d is for drawing) magazine in the spring 2009, edited and published by Yane Calovski and co-published by Gijs Stork at Veenman Publishers / Gijs Stork, Rotterdam, with internationally distribution via D.A.P. Books in NYC, Idea Books in Amsterdam, Vice Versa Books in Berlin and Art Data in London.
